Daikin eyes Rs 2600 crore turnover, aims to be top HVAC player in India
Driven by its engineering and manufacturing strengths, higher localisation of products and a shift in its focus, Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd (DAIPL), a 100% subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd, Japan, has not only been able to achieve a turnaround in its fortunes, but also claims to have become a leading player in the residential AC segments.
In 2009-10, Daikin sold 34,000 air-conditioners (ACs); by 2014-15, this figure had grown more than 11 times to about 3,75,000 units. In this period, the company has also increased its revenues manifold – from Rs 440 crore in 2009-10 to Rs 2,600 crore (expected) in 2014-15. It is now the second-largest AC maker after Voltas in terms of revenue, according to company sources.
